"I want to capture the essence of you - your beauty and your story"
Hello, my name is Susan. I live in Lancaster, KY, with my wonderful husband of 25 years and our five children. I've been photographing the special moments of peoples' lives for almost 30 years now.

I began this photography journey when I was a teenager. My first camera was a Pentax K-1000, and everyone was my model. I clipped (with scissors), pasted (into my own binder), and copied the poses from YM Magazine and other teen fashion magazines. I worked for the local newspaper as a photojournalist, shadowed a professional photographer at the end of my high school education, and pursued a Photojournalism degree at Morehead State University. My dad is a Vietnam veteran, and I dreamed of being a war photographer as I looked through his war photographs and became engrossed in war history while reading war books with him. I dreamed both of being a fashion photographer in NYC and a war photographer in the Air Force.
I earned a Photojournalism degree at Morehead State University in 1994. My first job after I was married was as a photographer on the Marriot golf course in Lexington, KY. Shortly after, I landed a job that I sought out, a Medical Photographer at Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children in Lexington, KY. Words can't describe how much I loved that job! From there, I continued in SLR photography with weddings, family, and special event photography as word of mouth provided (pre social media). In 2005, I reluctantly made the switch to D-SLR. As our family grew to five children, being a mom and wife along with homeschooling our children, hired photography took a back seat in my life.
Technology improved, and to be honest I was definitely behind the game. This saddened me, and honestly I was never happy with my Nikon D-SLRs. The majority of my photography work through these years was family portraiture, weddings, and volunteering ten summers to photograph a summer camp. I loved capturing the activities, hearts, and excitement of the campers. My dream of being a war photographer affected my eye as I looked to capture the emotions of the campers and staff each week.

In 2019, I was inspired by a local business owner to be a part of a local wedding vendor show. From there, my hubby upgraded all my equipment to the finest and encouraged me to reignite my dream. I am studying through Sue Bryce Education and continuing to build my folio.

What story do you and your family have to tell? Everyone is beautiful and valuable. Let me make beautiful photographs of your family that will be treasured forever.
It is this experience, love, and passion t I offer to you as your photographer.

"Photographs become memories of times past, and these memories flood our hearts and minds with love, joy, tears, solemnness, tenderness, inspiration, decisions, motivation, and adventure"
